Halloween fun– costumes, families, games, history

This fall, families are going to be connected and playful with their kids, I can tell! I am so ready for Halloween and fall celebrations, aren’t you? There are many fun ways to play with your kids, like making costumes, baking autumn cookies, and watching spooky movies. Fall signifies a time of change and transition.

Teach kids the origins of autumn by learning the different cultural stories that have been passed down. Remember to incorporate games, projects, movies, plays, and food into the festivities and give kids jobs to perform along the way! Stay safe in your neighborhood and teach family values!

This post has some of the best displays of games, crafts, costumes, and baking ideas. There are movie and musical concepts and ideas for new Halloween adventures. There is even a lesson on pumpkin carving. Have fun and keep digging for new ideas!

Why do people celebrate Halloween?

While Halloween may be suitable for vast amounts of candy and cute costumes, the fall celebration originates from a Celtic ritual called Samain, marking the end of the summer. Held November 1st, Samain was a time of trickery and malice as the gods above appeared on earth to torment humankind. The people would make fires to burn crops, dress weirdly, and sacrifice animals for protection from the ghost gods.

Why do kids dress up for Halloween?

Halloween eventually morphed into costume-wearing as more people adapted to autumn celebrations signifying death and despair as the winter approached, but doing so in a fun, community-like way. Children represent the history of original traditions through costumes because communities want to build friendships and bond with neighbors. Dressing in fun clothes gives people an opportunity to look silly, plan parties, and get wild with friends and family while celebrating nature and autumn surprises.

Why do we trick-or-treat on Halloween?

Some believe that because the gods roamed the earth during the mark of the new season, they were requesting food and supplies to take back to their world. Trick-or-treating became a tradition when communities attempted to ward off the godly ghosts with offerings from the human world. Some cultures believe that giving food, money, and the candy is a good fortune as they extend their goods to the supernatural world. Many communities thought they could predict the future after giving peace offerings and performed mischievous acts when no treats were supplied.

Is Halloween good for kids?

Halloween is a good time for children when incorporating family values, creativity, and friendships into the celebration. If you make your costume, you teach your kids how to create their ideas and show them how to perform crafting tasks. Basic crafting is involved, but more intense costumes might require woodworking, spray paints, and drilling.

When prepping for this occasion, regulate your child by involving them in developmentally appropriate rules and responsibilities to reinforce values and health. Let them decide how they want to dress, the location they want to go, and the people they want to go with within reason.

Provide acceptable reasons and alternatives if you are concerned with their choices to promote dialogue and curiosity to learn your child’s goals. Communicate with them about boundaries and distance to provide a sound understanding of locations.

For some children, their level of independence might dictate how they function through the celebration. Give your child the opportunity to practice new skills and dabble in new concepts as they practice what it feels like to create a new identity.

Halloween is fun for kids because they like candy. While it is not inherently healthy to gorge on candy, celebrating is just fun for them. Manage candy supplies before they get eaten to try to verbalize daily limits and food sensitivities. Allow your children to decide how they plan to consume their treats.

Kids want to eat all of it, but you may need to decide what is most comfortable for you and make suggestions– like 10 pieces instead of 40. Some families prefer to eat all the candy in one sitting, while others make it last. Talk with your husband, wife, or partner, and other family members to decide what is best for the situation.

If you live in a packed neighborhood, think about hosting a small outdoor party with lanterns, music, and food. Consider having your party control the scene and manage neighbors and friends. Encourage safety and fun!

What are fun family activities to do on Halloween?

Games, crafts, and cooking are incorporated into this occasion to make it enjoyable for kids and teens. Families do lots of activities like painting, costume designing, decorating, reading, and crafting. Outings like corn mazes, pumpkin picking, and hayrides are suitable for everyone! Baking is typical because most people love cookies and cakes during the holidays that represent silly figures and signs of harvest– pumpkins, witches, and leaves. Halloween games are fun to choose from when considering adding fun routines to your fall fun. Many websites have great visuals for ideas and suggestions.
